I configured the data field in Garmin Express to reset the distance for each lap. For my first use today, I executed a custom workout that I created in Garmin Connect; the workout consisted of repeated run/walk intervals of 4 minutes running with 45 seconds of recovery. The data field distance did not reset when each lap in the workout completed; it continued to accumulate total distance. This suggests that the data field will only reset on manual laps, but I did not test to see if this is the case.
